For most of the last decade, a Tamarack summer had a predictable center of gravity. The Village pulled the weekends. The bike park pulled the weekdays. The lake was the place you drove to when you wanted a full day off from both.
That map is out of date. The 100-slip Tamarack Marina opened on Lake Cascade over Memorial Day weekend, and by early August the resort's social schedule has visibly reorganized around it. If you already own here, the practical question for the rest of the season is which of your old habits still work and which ones need updating.
The one-sentence read on the season
The marina is not a new amenity bolted onto the same summer. It is the summer.
Look at where programming now clusters. Yoga classes with Elevation Studio instructors happen on the marina's white-sand beach. Saturday BBQ and live music still runs at Mid-Mountain Lodge, but the Sunday-evening crowd that used to close the weekend at the Village has drifted down to the water. Even the resort's headline event of the fall shoulder, Bikes, Brews & Bluegrass, is being positioned as an end-of-summer send-off in the Village rather than the peak moment it once was. The peak moved in July when the marina opened its slips and fuel dock to the public for the first time.
The August weekends worth clearing
Three dates carry most of the weight between now and Labor Day. If you plan around them, everything else falls into place.
- Saturday, August 29 — 3rd Annual Art & Wine Festival. Mountain activities begin at 10:30 a.m., with tastings and vendors running through the afternoon. Pre-purchase pricing is $60 and closes August 14, after which walk-up pricing steps up. Details and the vendor list are on the resort's Art & Wine page.
- Tamarack Course d'Elegance, August. A newer addition to the calendar and the reason to keep a jacket in the car this month. It shares the weekend rotation with the inaugural Kid's Triathlon, which uses an open-water swim in Lake Cascade before a shuttle back to the Village lawn for the bike and run legs.
- Sunday of Labor Day Weekend — 6th Annual Bikes, Brews & Bluegrass Festival. In the Village, with a commemorative 5 oz. tasting glass included in the ticket. Historically the lineup has run five bands back-to-back from noon to five, including High Pine Whiskey Yell, Dry Buck, The Wooley Buggers, Benson Burners Bluegrass Band, and Honey Trail.
Two smaller notes for the same window. The Idaho Women's Amateur is on the Osprey Meadows tee sheet this month, which means the course is quieter for members on the days it isn't. And the last Saturday in September brings the Top of Tamarack Race, a bike-run-hike time trial to the summit tied to a mental health awareness cause. Locals who race it once tend to put it on the calendar every year after.
The weekday rhythm that actually runs the resort now
The signature events get the press. The weekly programming is what makes ownership feel like ownership. Here is how the days now sort themselves out.

The Mid-Mountain BBQ is the one worth being deliberate about. It is the only regular reason most owners have to ride Tamarack Express up on a weekend now that the marina has absorbed so much of the lift-served energy. Ride it while the evening light is on the ridge.
The asterisk nobody wants to talk about: the bike park
Any honest read on the rest of the season has to include what happened to the Tamarack Express in late May. A Memorial Day windstorm damaged a tower on the lift, caused, oddly, not by falling trees but by an unusual cable entanglement. The park had opened on Memorial Day itself. It reopened for full lift-served riding in mid-June to early July after a tower replacement.
For August, the practical implication is smaller than the June headlines suggested. The park is running. What did change is the shape of the season. Locals who front-loaded their downhill days into Memorial Day weekend and June essentially lost a month of gravity riding, which means August and early September are absorbing that demand. Weekday afternoons on Super G and Shark Bait are noticeably busier than they were in 2024 and 2025. If you ride, the move is early morning laps or the mid-mountain window between 1 and 3 p.m., when the marina crowd has pulled the family riders down to the beach.
The 21 miles of cross-country singletrack around the mountain stayed open the entire time the lift was down, and they remain the underused half of the trail network. If you want a dawn ride with no one on it, that is where to point.
Labor Day and the handoff to fall
Labor Day at Tamarack is now genuinely two events layered on top of each other. The Bikes, Brews & Bluegrass Festival on Sunday functions as the summer's closing party in the Village. The marina, at the same time, hits its last big usable weekend before the water starts to cool and the boat traffic drops off Lake Cascade. If you have out-of-town guests coming, this is the weekend to invite them, not the Fourth.
Right after the holiday, the calendar starts to breathe. A few dates to hold:
- Late September, last Saturday: Top of Tamarack Race.
- Mid-to-late September into October: 6th Annual Oktoberfest in the Village Plaza, timed to the aspens turning. Pre-purchase is $60 and closes September 11, with the ticket including a 20 oz. commemorative stein and a food-and-beer punch card. Details on the Oktoberfest page.
- October: Halloween Havoc and the Hard Scramble Enduro, back-to-back on the fall shoulder calendar.
The Osprey Meadows Local Appreciation Days are the other move for the transition weeks. The course posts preferred pricing on select dates for Idaho residents through the season, and the September dates tend to be the most under-attended. Check them before you tee it up at rack rate.
One quiet move for locals
The Candle Lit Concert on the Course is the event returning owners keep quiet about. It sets on the fairway of Hole 1 at Osprey Meadows with a live quartet, a curated wine tasting, and the light of a thousand candles. It reads as marketed to guests, and yet the audience skews owners and repeat renters every year. If you have not been, this is the year, because the Course d'Elegance and the Candle Lit format together are the strongest evening the golf course puts on all season.
A last piece of texture. Tamarack Realty runs a daily 3 p.m. resort tour whether or not anyone signs up for it. Owners occasionally use it as a way to see what has changed on the master plan without a formal meeting. If you have not walked the new marina retail and the 9-hole social putting green yet, that is the low-friction way to do it.
The frame to hold
The lake was always the third leg of a stool that Tamarack pitched as ski, golf, and water. For most of the last decade it was the leg that wobbled, because public access was thin and boat storage was a hassle. That is what the marina fixed this year. The rest of the summer calendar is still adjusting to the new center of balance, and if you have owned here for more than a season, the interesting exercise is noticing which of your habits automatically routed to the Village and asking whether the lake version is now the better call.
